The Just Energy Transition (JET) Project Management Unit, based in the Presidency, recently hosted a successful JET Funding Platform Webinar on the 27th of June 2025. This virtual event offered delegates a comprehensive understanding of the JET Funding Platform, covering its purpose, operational mechanics, and the types of projects it supports.

Attended by over 150 participants, the session provided crucial updates on project applications and key insights from the first two application windows, these windows receiving over 240 applications on the platform. Participants gained valuable feedback on the assessment process, including an overview of the six most common reasons applications fell short, with governance challenges emerging as one of primary challenges. Furthermore, changes to the Platform were discussed, and potential beneficiaries received practical tips for maximising their success in future application rounds. Overall, the webinar reinforced the critical role the Funding Platform plays in being a catalyst advancing South Africa’s just energy transition.
