The project aimed to enhance the capacity and knowledge base of the City of Cape Town regarding grid regulation. Implemented by Ricardo and ECO with funding from the United Kingdom, the project focused on modernizing the electricity distribution system to improve efficiency and reliability. By upgrading grid management strategies, the project supported the city’s transition to a more sustainable and resilient energy framework, addressing challenges related to energy distribution and management. The project concluded successfully in November 2023, having met its objectives of strengthening local expertise in grid regulation.
