The project aims to promote the socially just transition, creating job opportunities in the green economy, especially for young South Africans and women. Commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the European Union (from 03/2025), it is implemented in cooperation with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) in partnership with civil society, the private sector, research institutions and other relevant stakeholders. The CPD4E project takes a comprehensive approach to support sustainable employment. It addresses both the supply and demand sides of the labour market, alongside active labour market policies and framework conditions. Training and practical experience are provided to youth and workers affected by the transition while small businesses in low-carbon sectors are supported to create jobs.
