The Just Energy Transition Implementation Plan 2023 – 2027
At the launch of the JET Investment Plan 2023-2027 on 4 November 2022, President Cyril Ramaphosa tasked the Presidential Climate Commission (PCC) with conducting public consultations. The JET Implementation Plan, approved by Cabinet on 16 November 2023, reflects the outcomes of these consultations with stakeholders, including labour, civil society, and business, and outlines how the JET IP will be implemented.
This roadmap guides South Africa in achieving its decarbonisation goals while ensuring just outcomes for those affected, contributing to inclusive growth, energy security, and job creation. It focuses on six key areas: Electricity, Mpumalanga JET, New Energy Vehicles, Green Hydrogen, Skills, and Municipalities. Designated institutions will lead efforts, co-create solutions, mobilise funding, and monitor progress, with support from the JET PMU in the Presidency.
